Melissa and Jimmy’s Love Story
The Greenery at McKenzie’s Farm
We had the pleasure of meeting Melissa and Jimmy just two months after they became engaged. Melissa was excited at the prospect of planning her own wedding with the help of her mom and sister. Admittedly, Melissa realized how challenging planning a wedding can be but she had an amazing support system with her friends, family, and fiancé Jimmy! We spoke with Melissa several times throughout her engagement and she always had a smile on her face. Love Story
Melissa and Jimmy met at a hospital! He was a firefighter, and she was working in the ER. They had been friendly, but Melissa always had a crush on him (he was just oblivious to it!). When she was leaving that hospital to start a new job at another ER, his ambulance partner and best friend told him it was obvious Melissa liked him. Jimmy said, “No, she’s just nice to everybody,” to which his best friend replied, “Dude, you’re gonna blow it, haha.” Jimmy finally asked her out to dinner, and the rest is history!
Engagement
Melissa and Jimmy had a wonderful winter day of fun planned in New Hampshire. They went snow tubing and then headed to their favorite brewery. They were staying in a little cabin with a private ice skating rink behind it, beautifully lit with string lights. As it started to lightly snow, they laced up their skates to play some hockey. After Melissa scored her first goal, she turned around to find Jimmy on one knee (in his hockey skates, which took some serious skill!). He asked, and it was the easiest “yes” she had ever made!
Wedding Planning
Melissa was eager to take on wedding planning on her own but admitted it was hard. Their venue, a beautiful blank canvas, required a lot of DIY, and they had to rent everything, making it twice the work—but it was so worth it. Their wedding turned out beautifully! It was challenging to find the right work-life-planning balance, but Melissa learned to rely on her partner. She chose to spend her life with Jimmy for a reason, and he was there to support her when she needed help. Jimmy was her rock throughout the planning process.
An Unforgettable Moment
Recalling just one unforgettable moment was a challenge for Melissa. The most unforgettable moment was the the first look. The joy and love were written all over their faces —they were both smiling so big, incredibly happy and filled with love. Another highlight was the ice cream truck and tap truck they had at the wedding—it was absolute perfection!
Their dog, Brody, was also part of the ceremony! He walked down the aisle with one of the groomsmen, sat like a good boy in the front row, and was perfect for pictures. They cherished the few minutes after the ceremony when they slipped into the bridal suite to enjoy a few private moments together as newlyweds.
Advice from the Newlyweds
Delegate! And do things together to make it more enjoyable! Melissa and Jimmy liked to go out to lunch together and bring their computers so they could chat and enjoy each other’s company, but also be productive!
When asked if there was anything that our team at Angela Marie Weddings did that surprised them they responded by saying, “Chloe was a dream to work with, and my mom continues to tell me this. Chloe went above and beyond for me! The day before the wedding, my linens came to the venue all wrinkled, and Chloe stayed late to iron them all out. Truly a rockstar.”
