A night of opulence at the Omni Mount Washington Resort

Love Story
Angus and Marley met in the fall of 2015 while undergrads at Harvard - Marley was a freshman and had only been at school for a week, and Angus was a sophomore. Marley's best friend from high school (who ended up being her maid of honor!) was also a sophomore at Harvard with Angus, and they had become good friends. She introduced Angus and Marley, and they hit it off while at a restaurant called Felipe's. The rest was history!
They dated all throughout college and through a year of long distance when Angus graduated and moved to NYC. When Marley graduated a year later, she moved in with Angus in NYC. Marley and Angus were together for 8 years before getting married.
Almost their entire wedding party were college friends who had been with them since the beginning of their relationship, so they all had a blast hanging out at the wedding. Marley played lacrosse in college and Angus was on the wrestling team, so they had a ton of teammates with them to celebrate the big day as well.
Engagement Story
In April of 2021, Marley and Angus took a vacation to Maui, Hawaii. On their first full day there, they had planned a helicopter tour to see the island. Little did Marley know, Angus had worked with the helicopter company to make it a private ride, and hired a photographer to go undercover as another passenger. Marley had no clue and was just enjoying the ride. When they touched down on a cliff by the ocean and had time to walk around and explore, Angus got down on one knee and proposed. The photographer captured it all, and they had a little photoshoot with the ocean and mountains of Maui in the background. Angus had a private dinner on the beach planned that night and they had the rest of the vacation to celebrate being engaged!
Wedding Planning
The happy couple had a long engagement because they got engaged in April 2021 and didn't get married until June 2023. This allowed plenty of time to choose their venue and vendors and not be worried about them being booked up already, which helped relieve a lot of stress. By the time the wedding came around, they were very excited to get married because they had quite literally been planning and anticipating it for over 2 years! Marley was in PA school from February 2021 until May 2023, which is why they planned for a June 2023 wedding. However, this added some stress when she was taking her final exams and in the final month of wedding planning at the same time. It all worked out in the end!
Marley has now graduated and started work as a general surgery physician assistant at a hospital in Westchester, New York. Angus has been working in sales and trading at a financial company based out of New York City since graduating college.
The Venue
Angus is from the Québec province of Canada, and Marley is from the seacoast area of New Hampshire. They both love being outdoors in every season and some of their favorite things to do are hiking and snow skiing. The Omni Mount Washington Resort, settled in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, was a perfect halfway point between their families. They also loved how all of their guests could stay on the resort and they could have every event on site, so it was easy for everyone to celebrate together.
They took advantage of all the activities the resort had to offer as well! On Thursday, the couple hiked Mount Washington. On Friday, Marley went for a horseback ride with the ladies in her family while Angus went golfing with the men in his family. And on Saturday, before the wedding, Angus went fly fishing for a few hours while Marley was getting ready!
The First Dance
An Unforgettable Moment
The couple had a beautiful first look outdoors on the resort terrace with the mountains behind them. They were both so excited and couldn't stop smiling because the day they had been looking forward to for so long had finally come! Even better, they were surrounded by all of their favorite people. After their first look, Marley and Angus took a horse and carriage ride around the resort to enjoy time together and take some photos. They will always remember riding up to the beautiful resort and seeing all of their wedding party and immediate family waiting to take photos with them and having so much excitement for the day to come. All of their planning and getting ready had paid off and it was time for the celebration to really begin!
Advice from the Newlyweds
“It's important to tackle each task in small increments! It's easy to get overwhelmed when thinking of the whole wedding, but don't focus on the things you can't control and just work on what you can. I remember when I entered the world of wedding social media after getting engaged, I was shocked at the amount of information and decisions I would have to process. But it all works out. Don't get overwhelmed or compare yourself to others! Angela did a great job helping keep us organized and doing everything in little chunks”.
As a rain day wedding couple, they also want to remind engaged couples to “always have a weather backup plan! We had originally pictured our ceremony outdoors with the mountains in the background, but the weather had other plans. Luckily we had a backup venue for our ceremony and a great team to seamlessly put it into motion when we made the call to move indoors at 11am on our wedding day. Do as much work as you can ahead of time so that you can relax and enjoy your big day! Angela was great at this, and we were truly not stressed the whole wedding weekend because we knew she had it under control.”
They also want to encourage other couples to hire a photographer for pre-wedding events, too! They said, “we wish we had gotten a photographer to capture our Friday night rehearsal / welcome reception. We put a lot of planning into it, and it was at a beautiful venue, but we only have iPhone photos of it. Even if it was a family friend who likes photography, it was something we hadn't thought of!”
