An Elegant & Classic Lakeside Wedding for Kristina & Dan

Love Story

Kristina and Dan met at the dining hall at Boston College on the first day of class in the second semester of their sophomore year. Kristina sat down with her roommates (all nursing students), and their handsome friend Dan (also a nursing student) was at the table. They both instantly thought the other was cute! Kristina invited Dan to a party she was hosting that weekend...and the rest is history.

About Kristina & Dan

Kristina is a news reporter for WBZ in Boston, reporting out in the field on whatever news is happening every day. Dan is a Nurse Practitioner working in Orthopedics, specializing in hip and knee replacements. He spends 2-3 days a week in surgery and 2-3 days seeing patients. They are both very career-oriented and even spent three years of their relationship long-distance (Kristina lived in Maine, and Dan lived in Boston), so they could both develop their careers where they needed to.

Engagement Story

Kristina had an important work event on June 15 that her parents asked her to miss because of some "big family surprise." Kristina was less than thrilled to have to miss such an important event, but (luckily for Dan) she did it anyway. When Dan picked Kristina up to bring her to the "event" looking quite dapper, she knew something was up. He proposed in the backyard of Kristina's family home at the lake with no one else around. Then he surprised Kristina with all of their parents, and then he had ANOTHER surprise...a party on a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee with all of their best friends. It was the best night EVER.

~ The Wedding Day ~

The Venue

Lake Winnipesaukee has always been a special place to Kristina. Her grandfather lived there, and she spent every summer of her life at "The Lake." When Dan came into the picture, he, too, started spending a lot of time at the lake with Kristina's family, and it became one of their favorite places. They had originally planned to get married closer to home in the Boston area, but with the pandemic, New Hampshire ended up seeming like a safer choice.

“We think it was fate; everything happens for a reason, and the wedding on the lake is definitely where it was meant to happen.” They were married at Church Landing at Mill Falls, an elegant lakefront wedding venue in Meredith, NH.

Memorable Moments

Kristina described their most memorable moments:

“For our first dance, we had my brother sing our song "Love Like This" by Ben Rector with the band, and it was a surprise to most of our family and guests. We had never practiced and had just hoped it would all come together – and wow, did it! It was such a special moment we will never forget.

Covid postponed our wedding twice! We were SO happy to finally be there in that church, nine years into our relationship and three into our engagement. It was the happiest day of our lives!”

The Couple’s Advice: “Hire a Day-of Coordinator!”

Kristina had a couple of pieces of advice for couples-to-be:

“Hire a Day-of Coordinator! Without Angela, our wedding would not have gone off as smoothly as it did. She made it so that the bride and groom could just have a great day and not worry about a single detail. 100000% worth it.”

She added, “Communicate openly with all parties/parents involved to the degree that they want to be involved. Open communication is everything!”
